Multiple strippings, multiple scrubbings, and it started to work itself loose. It wouldn't surprise me if it is bent. I abused it.
Three day weekend for me. Nice sunrise today. Hand ripping corner braces for the layout base. I could use power tools but it is too cold in the garage.
Such an excellent photograph John and such a nice place to be. One of my brothers enjoys hand tools because they're quiet and make less of a mess.
Wow! Very interesting historical footnote. I actually have one of the rare NMRA G.D. boxcars. I'll have to grab a picture and post it, .
I have a 40 ft gondola decorated as Gorre Daphetid #12. I "won" it a number of years ago on the Bay. It is made by Round House, and came with it's original box....it was sold as a kit. What surprised me was the fact that I was the only bidder....I was on pins and needles waiting for the auction to end. I had expected it to go for much more than my low bid. Now I can't remember what price I was willing to bid up to, but I think that I really, really REALLY wanted that piece of rolling stock!! LOL I even keep it on a bookshelf separated from the rest of my stuff! Jim
I think I only paid in the area of $20 for the NMRA 'Special' car, whereas there is one on Ebay, now for $89.95. It was on eBay, might have been even been a but it now. I guess the determining factor was that the all important original packaging and box liner had been damaged which must have compromised the value. I wasn't concerned, as I had been looking for one for a while and I wanted it to run. So I run it quite, often, .
Just an update on this: There was another NMRA G&D car that just want on Ebay for $26. They do come up once in a while, but they rage from either a good deal to the full 'collectible' price.
