Howdy, Well, now that I have a ton of research done on my future Dunsmuir Module, I decided to deal with the Turntable first. I've considered a lot of approaches, and today while doing a new load for our N Scale Gondola; kinda put one and two together and came up with a way to do the deck. As you can see on the scan, the spacing of the ribs is almost the same as is the lower shape. I need to cut down the height of the deck support, but considering what I was able to do in a few minutes, it seems like this might be a great solution. The turntable is 126' - dia so I will need to use three shells to get the right length and will apply these to the sides of a piece of Aluminum Square Tube for the core. Anyway, just a quick show and tell, maybe someone else will come up with another interesting way to do this without doing a lot of scratchbuilding. Cheers Joe MTL
I once "sunk" an Atlas N TT by building a bridge for it and adding a wall around. The whole pit spins instead of just the bridge, but it did look way better than the stock Atlas model. I shaped the ends of the girders similar to yours, it ended up matching pretty good for drawings I had.
I reworked a PECO NB-55 turntable into a Z Scale turntable. It measures out to something like a scale 116 feet, so I just call it a 120 footer:
Way to go Rob. What are you going to put that on?????? Joe, good idea with the scrap Gondolas. Hope you don't have to many
