Ok...so I have these GP-35's laying around and I want to do them in Southern Pacific, are there decals available with the logo, or is there something in N scale that will fit...Humm? Thanks Joe
YES! -- i think so! go to C-D-S lettering immediately and check out their list of N scale decals! SP had narrow gauge rolling stock and locomotives (Southern Pacific Coast ?) and CDS does lettering for N scale narrow gauge. I found PERFECTLY sized Rio Grande flying letters to fit my Z scale general service gondolas i'm making. i also used one of there sets to reletter my Pennzee gons to Rio Grande -- perfect! So i'm thinking they will have the same available for So.Pac. There are all kinds of N scale road names available that surely something will fit (including the "tramp trains" that would be fun shortline engines to model). But you have to act fairly soon, because the word is CDS is shutting their doors after 40(?) years of business. Stock on hand is good, but won't be for long. ... OK, i went to their website. .... their website shows this for SP narrow gauge: SOUTH PACIFIC COAST 491 SPC 28' wood boxcar (narrow gauge) - circa 1888 #2-20,92-176,288-336 803 SPC 24' wood boxcar (narrow gauge) - circa 1888 FUTURE RELEASE 804 SPC 24' wood flat car (narrow gauge) - circa 1888 FUTURE RELEASE and this for SP standard (in N, remember) SOUTHERN PACIFIC 249 SP 40' steel box-large "SOUTHERN PACIFIC" B-50-27, circa 1966 #100000-102099 250 SP 50' double door box- "SOUTHERN PACIFIC" B-50-36,circa 1972 #230000-231536 251 SP 50' steel box-circle herald B-50-22, circa 1971 #650275-650312 252 SP 40' steel box-circle herald B-50-20, circa 1940 - 10'0" car #83741-84239 253 SP 50' steel auto-circle herald A-50-14, circa 1940 #64926-65417 254 SP 50' steel auto-circle herald A-50-17, circa 1950 #190000-190498 I don't know how much this helps, but it's worth a look. They are FINE quality dry transfers - i've loved them. here is their website for your own look: http://www.tmrdistributing.com/CDS.htm if you aren't sure what these look like, you might find a store that carries them; or call Caboose Hobbies in Denver. they have a VERY good selection, and one of their employees would probably describe the ones you ask for over the phone -- i'm sure it wouldn't help, joe, if you tell them who you are - i.e. micro-trains. i wish i could help more, but really ... check these out, they are a gold mine! dave f.
Boy, that's too bad. I bought alot of the Milwaukee Road dry transfers back when I was in N-scale, cause I had to custom make alot of rolling stock and thier's was the best.
