I need help finding info on WYCOs 44tonners. I've been unable to locate a roster that lists anything but the current locos used and no 44tonners. Anybody got anything. Of special interest would be ex Amador Central #8. I don't know what number she wore at WYCO nor what has become of her. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
OK, think I got it all worked out now. I was probably confusing the Colorado & Wyoming (CW) with the Wyoming & Colorado (WYCO) anyhow, got it figured out that Amador Central went to the Colorado Fuel & Iron which just happens to be the parent of CW. So that solves one issue on my roster. Next, I had that she went to Oregon Steel Mills which I assumed was somewhere in Oregon, go figure. Actually, Oregon Steel Mills bought the CF&I. This solves problem two. Now the Million dollar question: Is the CF&I 44tonner on display at the Pueblo Railway Foundation the ex Amador Central #8?
The answer is..... Nope, the unit at Pueblo has turned out to actually be MKCX 84 and not ex CF&I despite what there website says. So not ex Amador Central either. Oh well...
I looked around a bit on rrpicturearchives.net and didn't find anything like what you are talking about. They do have a list of GE 44ton locos, though. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoList.aspx?mid=214 You might check to see if it ever wore "phony" reporting marks. I was looking and looking and looking for the DLMX 324 once. It's an RSD-5 painted to look like a Nickel Plate locomotive. It turned out to be a fantasy scheme, as the Nickel Plate never had an RSD-5 of this number. It was actually ex-Utah Railways. Good luck! Adam
I knew that Doyle owned it. I was looking up to see when Nickel Plate got it. The answer was that it was never actually theirs. I think Doyle just decided he liked the paint scheme. I can't blame him. It does like nice. I especially like the NKP typeface.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've got the history of the actual unit in Pueblo and its not what I'm looking for. The WYCO interest was by my mistake.
