Hard to believe I was a young 59 when I joined !! I'll be 70 this year too boot !! Other than some small aches and pains I feel like I could just as well be 40 !! But tell the chicks that !! Badda boom badda bing !!........ Just for the halibut my 2 fav steam are C&O y6b (the low slung profile and the smokebox with the flat bottom at front porch, boiler not completely oval, here, at least.. Other steam is that fine steed, the NYC J3a Hudson..Considered by many train nuts to be the most handsome and dignified of all steam. Grew up in NYC/Long Island. Saw red and green GG1's, Hell Gate bridge, rode IRT IND BMT subways, LIRR/C Liners, first train club show: Nassau Model RR Club on Hillside Ave. E. Williston, at about 8 yrs old in early 1950s.
Congrats, Mark. If you like NY Central Hudsons, let me recommend this book to you. Available through the New York Central System Historical Society. Super photos and great technical info.
I joined when Trainboard was not yet one month old. I did not participate much right away but I am somehow still here. Ahh, to be 47 years old again. A veritable "young" man. Eh? Get off of my lawn!!!
