Unfortunately, with product pricing that appears to be higher than other major online shops, the discounts from MSRP on the newly resurrected site are much lower than they previously were.

Perhaps the low pricing is what lead to the demize. The prices are still not too bad. And with gasoline and all other prices going up, it isn't too far fetched that their pricing needed to be addressed.

I would venture to say that any price increase is at least in part an effort to begin recovering the cost of their investment. Which might well be financed and need payments made to some lending source, at today's higher interest rates.

From some reading I found online, it seems that the initial downfall is probably linked to the death of the founding owner, Ted woo woo woo. Apparently he had no heirs and the store first went to his long time girlfriend - and then she died shortly after and left it to her children. So it was quickly in the hands of owners that had no experience running it, and likely no interest as well.

Over the years I'd say that the #1 cause of the famous hobby shops closing is the founding owners moving on from the business - selling it, closing it if there was no buyer, or unfortunately passing away. And the shops that do get sold to new owners rarely seem to do as well as under the original ownership.

At any rate, it's good to see this back up and running. It's always good to have some additional options for purchasing.
