Jeff, If that were / is the normal vewing angle then Iwould , (in my not so humble way), say that the curve needs to be "shallower". I guess that means a larger radious. From a different, (normal viewing), perspective it may be smoother and as such perfect..
Nice shots everyone Now that the Atlas shay arrived, I took my old scratchbuilt shay and reworked into YHR shay #1 the first locomotive in revenue service on the YHR She's a wood burner of unknown lineage, but she has handled everything the boys have thrown at her. Evidence of hard work is everywhere. An Nscale Kato RDC supplied the drive line to this unit.
Flash. Here is the Heavy Mountain in color as you requested. I did not know that I still had this pic. I took it at a time that I was experimenting with aperture priority and trying to learn how to use my camera. Looks lke my blue background walls turned grey under my flourescent lighting. Bryant Great pics everyone!
Here is one of my Christmas gifts from my wife and kids. It is an IHC Pacific. I am proud of the family. Before buying the locomotive they requested that the hobby shop run the locomotive on the shop's test track. After they were satisfied they purchased it. The locomotive runs real smooth. Looks like the Ridley Keystone & Mountain has obtained an excursion locomotive. Now I need to get some passenger cars to go with it.
Or load some gondolas with benches and Prizer People, dust them with soot and cynders, and they will be happier than pigs in a mud puddle.
Flash, The brass wire was just held in place with super glue and they do not really add any strength to the bridge. the timbers are glued together which makes it strong enough.
Bryant, That picture is excellent and the colour of the rock work etc makes the whole scene look so realistic. Dan, Did you buy any of the new Atlas shays? if so how do they compare with your scratchbuilt model?
No! Wait!!! It's a Unimog!! (I read the other thread) http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/13/t/001877/p/1.html#000001
SNFF 1 16 05 Hi, all, For easy reference, I've organized a one-page online overview of my little 4' x 4' Santa Fe "Peavine Line" layout. (all photos previously posted over time) Here's the web page URL: http://home.comcast.net/~j.sing/Peavine_Layout_Overview.html Enjoy, all! Great photos here on WNFF, as always! [ 16. Thank you for the comments on my shay. Paul Yes I do have the Atlas shay. The Atlas shay has a moving gear train, my shay does not, so that makes Atlas the winner. Performance wise they run about the same, with my bashed one being more robust, because it has no moving gear train to worry about. Shays tended to be well used, and the environment they worked in lends itself to some new possibilities in N scale. I am looking looking forward to going through some backwoods scenery with these.
Dan C.: Excellent scene. I have to look at your layout album! [ 16. January 2005, 21:25: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Excellent, Mr. Sing! Very timely for me. I noticed in your Webshots album, you used a black subroadbed. What brand is it? It looks like AIM. Did you use this on your layout as well? I'm tinkering with the idea of building an N scale version of MR's Red Wing Division using Kato Unitrack. I've always liked that layout for some reason. I have space for a layout about 2 1/2 or 3 ft wide and 5 to 6 feet long. I could possibly broaden up the curves to make a bit more room for scenery...
Quiet night tonight. Must be the football playoffs. One last shot: I have a Texaco industry and some tank cars to go with it. This is a home made decal; Texaco sign printed on white decal paper. Trying to make a little variance in the cars. Micro Trains car with custom number; not weathered yet.
Some great work and some really nice decals. The locos are just chalked and the sd50 needed white paint on the handrails. The unitrack is great. Time for some foam. Loco1999
WPZephyrFan, I used HO scale Woodland Scenics black subroadbed. The N scale Kato Unitrack base is just a little too wide to use the N scale WS black subroadbed Hope this helps!
