    Hello,
Three years ago I purchased a Lenz set 100/set090, System. I am just now getting around to using it on a layout. I have many questions about it and how to proceed.

Below is a picture of my layout. It is made from Hollow Core Doors(about 15/8 thick, topped with 2" foam) and each square is 1'x1'. I will be using Atlas sectional, Atlas flex, Peco flex, Atlas remote turnouts #4 & #6, Peco Turnouts Medium, large and two (2) Kato crossovers. All Grey track are hidden under scenery or in buildings.

How would you wire this layout for DCC? Any and all ideas, suggestions, and comments are welcomed.

    See ya
    Ron

    Hi,

    Interesting layout!

I think I would start by asking you how many locomotives and operators will be running on this, and what is the total length of track on the layout?

Next question is how much DCC are you willing to implement?

I see several power districts and a few places where you may have a reversing issue.

I would start by isolating the turntable tracks into their own power district. You would need to power the turntable deck track using an auto reverser.

Next I would setup the gray (hidden) tracks into their own power district. The balance of the layout could be a third or possibly fourth power district.

After that it would be to just keep the feeder drops consistent with all of the rest of the tracks. Depending on what types of turnouts you have or are going to have, you may need to modify them for maximum DCC relaibility. You can see how to do this using Alan Gartner's site under DCC turnouts on www.wiringfordcc.com.

I guess the idea I am putting forth is to look at the basic DCC infrastructure requirement and work up from that to the actual wiring plan.
