I have ended up with some useable space outside a 42" OD radius return loop. The trick is i need the spur to come off the outside of the curve and don't know if there are any curved turnouts that would be appropiate for coming off this broad a curve. My engineers tell me that the hill back at left side of the straight entry part to the curve could be flattened a little to make way for a turnout, but they're not thrilled about the explosives and bulldozing it would take to make it work. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Curt
I think Peco has a very large radius curved turnout. Don't ask me what the radius is. I would think adding curved turnouts to existing routes would almost always require relaying a stretch of travk on both sides. I don't think this is what you want to hear, but I would handlay the turnout to fit perfectly. Really not hard, takes several hours for the first few. There have been several articles on building turnouts, the one I liked best and used to learn was by Tony Koester, from an MR mag. Sorry I don't know the month/year. Gary
