Where can you buy WHITE LEDs? I've checked out Miniatronics, and it looks like all they sell are Yellow, Red, and Green. I'm needing one for a locomotive headlight, and prefer a bright white light. Thanks
Dave N, I don't know for sure if he sells them, but I attended a seminar by Jim Hinds of Richmond Controls at the August Chantilly convention, and he is an acknowledged expert on the use and application of LEDs to model railroad locomotive lighting. Also seems like a great guy. IIRC he has an advanced engineering degree in optics and electrical engineering, he really knew his stuff. He went also went through an extensive experimentation phase within the past year about getting the exactly the correct shade of light from the LEDs. His lighting kits generally draw rave reviews from his customers. I think he can help you greatly. His web site is: http://www.richmondcontrols.com/ Hope this helps.
You're the second person to recommend Richmond controls (Russ Tehachapifan also), so I'll check it out - thanks John !
Another good source is Bruce at Litchfield Station. He sells DCC equipment and a variety of leds. He is quite knowledgeable and very helpful. http://www.litchfieldstation.com/ Brian
Don't forget www.ngineering.com as a source, plus they have a lot of tools and wires you will need. Great calculator to get the resistor right, plus capacitors and other devices... Tony Burzio San Diego, CA
I also have some LEDs available, mostly 0603 but also bicolor 1206 used for the SMD products signals.
