Waldo is just south of Cerillos, NM. Also fairly close to Gallisteo where Burl Ives lived. Right next to the ATSF line from Las Vegas NM to Albuquerque. Not much left of it as it is only a few piles of scrap from the ghost town it once was. [ December 23, 2005, 08:54 AM: Message edited by: wig-wag-trains.com ]
I heard just yesterday, there are governmental protests about Google earth. From within, and outside of our borders. Boxcab E50
How about this view and detail http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Washington+DC&ll=38.871147,-77.055895&spn=0.005896,0.012802&t=k&hl=en
I've been by the exit to Waldo perhaps 1,000 times. I've never taken it. I've never seen anyone take it. Last I knew, the paved road ended shortly off the exit, leaving a gravel road to, essentially, nowhere. I've heard the state extended the pavement a few years back. Hmm, maybe I'll take a photo trip to Waldo next week.
Gotta Love it: Screen Capture from Google Map TOFL Yard - Allston MA Larger image: http://www.railimages.com/albums/Prototype_1/aab.jpg Near where I used to live in Allston MA. [ December 23, 2005, 05:29 PM: Message edited by: Grey One ]
Waiting for the Mac version. I think the building to the far right, extending off the screen, is Superior Automotive. Jeanne's dad owned that building; his trust still does.
Some of the rural photos are'nt as detailed, but most of the major metro areas are great. I was looking at the Seattle yard and noticed that there was a game at Seahawk Stadium. I zoomed in and could see all the players in formation at about the 5 yard line!!
