Hi Lenny, I agree, there usually were three SD40's on the expressway, but that has changed over the last 6 - 10 months. I'm seeing the consists on the Montreal - Toronto section. I don't know if there is a power change at Agincourt before they head westward. Milne
Hi Milne; Caught a Toronto bound Expressway run heading out this morning at Dorval with only 2 SD40s, best thing is he was drag racing a CN westbound with a CN/IC/UP Dash-8 lashup. The reason I went for the shoot this morning was to catch an AMT commuter train test run with the new BBD coaches, like the ones in use on GO Transit. Cheers, Lenny
Hi Lenny, I'm going to trainwatch on Friday and I hope to see 121 and 122. I'll let you know what power they have. Milne
Rarely seen an SD90 in the Montréal region but caught one a few days ago...CP 9131 along with CEFX 1005 near Dorval airport. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=94396 Enjoy
Yes, red barns are rare also, and they happen to be my favoreite engine.. But the topic is about the 9100-9160 series. Anyways, does anyone know why where I live the vast majority of SD90's I see are trailing? Perhaps 90% of them are.
MechaMoose- All the CP SD90MACs have Canadian lead position safety devices installed. I'm guessing, but perhaps they are not equiped to lead south of the border. CP 9100 - 9111 were built at GMD in London Ontario, while 9112 - 9160 were assembled by the CPR at the CP Ogden shops in Calgary Alberta. Do you know the numbers of the units that were leading? Perhaps there were differences between the Calgary and London units.
Hmmmmm. Actually I've seen the ones built at the Ogden Shops leading, such as 9127 and 9153. Anyways, what is a Canadian lead position safety device?
