Torsja, I really like the idea of your process in that you have these great square edges and are then able to work the board-by-board construction... I think this warms up the building tremendously! What sort of cutter is that, and how thick is the styrene you can cut? John Ztrains: Z Scale (1:220) Model Train Layouts
Ive been making some alterations to my Marklin 2-6-0. Many of these were described by Tom Knapp in the Jan/Feb 2005 issue of N Scale Railroading. These include modifying the German stame cylinders, building an oil bunker, and a lowering the pilot a little. Now I need to get some decals made, and paint the thing black.
The styrene sheet is 0.4mm thick and the cutter is a vinyl cutter for making signs and car decorations. This is my first attempt so I don't know how thick I actually can cut with it. For this cut I set the force on the knife on maximum. But It may cut deeper if I set the blade lower in the fixture or use a different type off knife.
Torsja, you have to get these people out of that poverty laden land Or at least do something about the weather !! Things just don't last long on the NERR. So much wear and tear. Fantastic weathering, as usual !!! .
Nice Robert, that could be a backyard off a lot on one off our older quarters in a city here in Norway.
That's just one of those We-Honest people in bright pink. Need to paint it a more subdued color. It does look kinda like a nekid person in this photo though! I'll leave it to imagination.
timJust wondering how this project turned out. I am working on something similar in HO that will use one of these tiny motors.Dan
What and Who!!! What kind of Loco is this and which railroads had them???? Got this GHQ shell from Uncle Will a few years ago in a trade. Can't remember much about it other than it was the last one he had. Felt lucky then but am confused now!!! What kind of loco is it (I know it is a Marklin 4-6-2 chassis) and what railroads had them??? Any color photos available for this Beauty?? Thanks! Hobo Tim p.s. Oooooooooo look, I am the 995th poster to this thread!!!!!
Tim- It looks like a Pennsylvania RR K-4 Streamlined 4-6-2 Here is a photo of some S scale models of them. http://www.americanmodels.com/_photos/3768.plexi.jpg It looks about correct except the drives are not covered.
Tim, that's the PRR'2 Steamlined Loewy K4 Steam Engine from Pennzee. You can order the Kit for 50$ from Kevin. HOBBY CRAFTS N MORE - Catalog - Products
Thanks!! Last night after I posted the photo the wording "K4" kept popping in my mind so I did a search on Google images for a 4-6-2 K4 and found them. Very nice loco. I found that all of the photos, models and prototypes, have a skirt where as the Z model does not. Easily remedied though!!! Looks like I have a new project when I return from Texas! Cool!!! So which should I plan, the Pennsy Red or the Brunswick Green version? Hobo Tim
What is the difference? One color is a passenger engine and one color is freight? [edit] This thread is about to go to 50,000 views.
Good Question I don't know!!! Anyone shed some light on this??? Hobo Tim p.s. nearing 1000 posts and 50,000 views!! Cool, and all in Z!!
