Well, I feel a bit silly posting this after those beautiful modules, but this is what's on my work bench. I have been going thru my dad's trains, I inherited his Z collection, and getting locos running again. Most have been sitting for at least 15 years. The locos that he modified or created are in the three front rows, except the GP38. My builds are in the back two rows. Not showing is my favorite, the NYC Hudson, but my second favorite is his PRR G5, second row left. All are running now except for a Marklin Southern Mikado. Scott
Beautiful work Scott, and glad your carrying the torch your father started so long ago! True craftsmen for sure!
I think I'll post profiles of each of my dad's locos in my "dad' thread. Stay tuned if your interested. Kurt, Thanks for the kind comment. Scott
My workbench is a mess. I have spent the past 4 months working with contractors in the backyard, and now that the weather has turned, I am getting back to my workbench. As you can see I have a lot of incomplete projects, including a Z Maker 44 tonner which I am waiting on Zener Diodes and SMT Resistors for so I can wire in directional lighting, and 4 more of Walt's Marklin Mikado retrofit shells. There is a half finished Walt's Boxcab, and a ready for interior detailing Safeway store too! Yes, I declare it the official start to Model Railroad Season... TODAY!
Let's see now, where did I put my........oh there it is, right where I left it.........oh shucks, where did it go, it was here a minute ago.
I have boxes of track, switches (not turnuts), . Pieces of Kato sectional track, old train cars that have crashed and need shopped or chopped and parted out.. And, as if that wasn't enough my magnifying lamp. All waiting to be installed. Then there's the New Optimizer and it is a real gift. In more ways then one. Outside on the workbench, we are getting set to build two valances. Both will have indirect lighting. One will have some original engine numbers. Or railroad emblems hanging on them. Then there is a light bar that is planned and Land Lord has approved. To go over the layout. Lot's to do. I thought this was a hobby and not a job.
Wahhh-huhhhh???? Why’d you have to wait so long? Why couldn’t you have made the official declaration 1 month, or even 2 months ago? I could have gotten so much more done……. I smell another CAFE’ build on the horizon……
Nice work Robert! And so the season begins. Finally got the EA electronics 55 Chevy trucks done. They are so nice! All I need is some penn Central decals
Thanks Scott I use a silver sharpie for bumper and headlights. Best part is fine control just a touch does the job. Lance (I think I remember that’s your name..if I’m wrong help me Zscaleplanet) you probably noticed that I could still get the turn signals Chevy logo and wheel rims painted too. Perhaps I’ll have a zen moment and give those a try.
