Went to a local hobby shop where the author of the new book Elgin Joliet & Eastern In Color by Morning Sun was signing copies and picked one up. Also received all three of the new Bluford EJ&E hoppers, two more Trainworx gondolas in Great Northern and D&RGW, and another Fox Valley Milw Road caboose. Last but not least I picked up some Tru-Color paint that I've been eager to try out. Bob
rrunty, PM me if this LHS happened to be located in Crest Hill. If they didn't tell me of such an event, those two are in HUGE trouble !!!
Picked up a Kato Alco PA-1/PB-1 set from a local train show for cheap. They run great on DC but I run DCC to my next purchase will be a set of decoders.
I picked up 2 rolls of cork bed and 3 C&O cars (box, 2 coal tenders) from the Choo Choo Barn in Lancaster, PA last Friday.
I haven’t bought any train stuff in almost a year, but I bought 2 Dash 8-40 & 1 SD-45 from eBay for my brother-in-law to mount in a shadow box. I also bought a new in-the-box Atlas Conrail Dash 8-40B for myself and planning on buying a decoder for it. I usually only run South West stuff, but I actually saw a Conrail in Barstow CA about 4 or 5 years ago.
Today I picked up a 1999 Atlas, Chinese built 33,000 tank car. thought about it for 30 seconds and grabbed a 1967 Atlas jumbo tank car for a comparison....
Not a real exciting purchase but critical to completing switch machine installation. Also, cheap on the wallet.
Just picked up a 2014 Walthers Catalog and several pieces of Atlas Flextrack. I am working on a project for my nephew who wants to get into this hobby.
Received another Kato A-B-A set of F7s in BN. Got enough of those now !!! Also received trucks and fuel tanks to convert two Atlas RS11s to RSD12s.
A little Exactrail goodness as a recent purchase A big, low quality iPhone pic of my high quality Exactrail Trenton Works Bulkhead flatcar. The standoff ladders alone make this thing worth it, never mind the draft gear and real lasercut wood bulkhead ends.
The newer one has better trucks, couplers and handrails, but those old ones really look good for the timeperiod. heck, for what they go for in odds and ends bins at shows, you could do a whole fleet with Exactrail or BLMA trucks and body mounted MT couplers.
funny that you should say that....I got the new one at a local train show for $5...at the same show, someone was selling an old one for $10....as soon as I saw that, I ran over and did not even haggle for the new one!
Just won this baby on the 'bay. Plan to lash it up as a lease loco from time to time. Needs a coupler, and comes without a case, but for a Kato it was a steal for $41 shipped. I plan to spray the hand rails grey since the proto didn't have black ones. I don't know much about CSX, can anyone tell me what paint scheme this is? I know its nicknamed "bright future".
Nice score at 41 bucks shipped! I guess the occasional deal CAN still be found there....although it seems to be becoming increasingly rare. Looks like you need to reinsert some of those handrail stanchions!
