No, it is more that it has been a long time, seemed like years, while since I really bought anything and I love the passenger trains. And when Amtrak brought out all the 50th Anniversary locomotives, well I am just making up for lost time.
I like the blunt end observation car with both the lighted CoLA placard and tail light. I wonder if that is a prototypical version. According to Lowell Smith, their version is prototypical. HMMM???
Not pictured-I bought the entire Kato Milwaukee Hiawatha set. I get my daughters each a car for their birthday and another for Christmas. One loves the look of the Hiawatha and last year I bought individual cars off of eBay a couple of times from people who break up the set. This year I just decided to save money, buy the whole set, and parcel it out over the next couple of years to her. We install lights and passengers together and then run it. While I was at it, I noticed that my go-to hobby shop in IL was running mystery boxes of 5x 2packs (10 total containers) of JTC containers. 40’ and 53’ sets for $49 and $69 respectively. They pick them, so it’s probably whatever has sat longest on the shelf, but still a good deal for JTCs. I’ve got plenty of both, but sprung for another mystery set of 40’-pictured below. Not sure if the hobby shop is an advertiser-they have 2x 40’ mystery boxes remaining and are all out of the 53’. This is the second time they run the promotion-seems like every 6 months or so. And while I was on their site-one thing led to another and somehow I’ve got a 2nd P42-this time in the Amtrak pointless arrow 50th scheme. Already installed a decoder this morning. And then thru eBay from a club in Santa Clara-3x more BLMA reefers-same number, but it was one I don’t have so I ended up buying three to get one. With all that, I’ve now got some duplicates of a couple of a Hiawatha sleeper, the observation car, and the lounge car I need to part with as well as two of those reefers. Just got another UP5 panel to replace the one I stole from one the my Ntrak modules for the home layout. Now with shows again in the future, need to get the modules ready.
More Kato track packs. Collecting track to add to the M2 and V3 sets I have before attempting to ;ay down a modified version of the White or Black River Junction layout to see which fits my space best.
Got some of the Bachmann full dome McKinley cars on clearance. Planning on a quick spray and decal job to take them back to SF livery.
Being brand new to the Amtrak locomotives, get my first this week, how you like them? A few people here that have the P42's really seem to like them? I'm already eyeing the Midnight Blue 50th Anniversary as I don't see the Point in getting the pointless arrow Plus I don't like the way it looks! My locomotives purchases don't really make much sense
Bought a Kato N 106-090-DCC Equipped Chicago Burlington and Quincy CB&Q EMD E5 Diesel Locomotive and 5 Passenger Cars 'Silver Streak Zephyr' - 6 Unit Set from in2tech...a TrainBoard Member ! Got it at a fair price. It arrived Friday. I was just looking to replace the E5 that belongs to THE WIFE that fried the decoder but got the whole set !! THE WIFE loves it !!! She now has her 'THE Party Train' or the Zephyr she can run !
I have two-I use them to recreate the Amtrak Hiawatha. At most, I’m asking them to pull 6 coaches but I think they would pull more. Quiet, smooth runners capable of going much faster (scale speed) than what the prototype is capable/allowed to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
the power chassis for my Green Mover LRV is not easy to find anymore and one popped up on Ebay, so if you're hunting for the ONE Tomytec LRT05 that WAS on Ebay five minutes ago, sorry. It ain't there no mo'
Who has them on clearance? I have been eyeing them for a while, to be used as is for my Alaska train.
Some recent arrivals: Concor U50 - Chessie, Athearn ATSF FP45, MT FT A+B, Kato E8B ATSF NSCALE Models Doodlebug (Dirks work not mine) and lastly a Kato E8A. The E8's are for the E1 A+B 3D printed shells I have.
