I am in need of something to keep the corners of my structures at 90 degrees while they are drying. What kind of corner brace/jig/clamp should I purchase or make?

I was looking at the magnetic corner jig that Micro Mark offers. Is this something I want to invest in?

I typically use bar clamps I bought from Micro Mark.

I would not recommend the magnetic board if it is what I bought a while back. It has several problems:

    1. The base is steel and it rusts very quickly. The scribed line on the base disappear with the rust and the rust get all over everything.

    2. The metal angles pieces are not accurately installed. The resulting corners are not 90 degrees.

oh that's good to know, I was actually thinking about buying one, but if it's as useless as 'The True Sander' then it's a waste of money.

    I'm talking about this one
    http://www.micromark.com/ Item Number: 60304

So I guess I should just keep using my steel squares instead.

    jkristia,

The board you identified is not exactly the one I purchased. Mine only has L-beams on 2 sides but the magnets are identical.

I saw in the most recent Model Railroader something called "The Right Clamp", http://www.coffmaneng.com/right_clamp.htm

I am thinking of trying these as I have the same dilema of getting the corners to dry at 90 degrees.

Anyone used these? They come highly recommended by Model Railroader.

Latest issue of Model Railroader (Feb '04) has an article on tools--some related to keeping assemblies square. Angle plates from Harbor Freight are about half the price of Micro Mark.
