One thing though is that you N scale guys can get away with alot more things than us HO guys. Thats for sure. Heck you guys can make a B30-7 out of a B23-7 without changing engine doors. Cant do that in HO, you'll get nailed and critized for it. Ahh well that why man created RPP, Detail Assciates, Details West, and Athearn for us. you can make a
    SD40-2
    SDP40F
    SD40-2W
    SD40-2F
    SD38-2
    SD45-2
    SD40-2B
    SD40-2SLUG (ATSF thing)

    all form Athearns SD40-2!!!

Scott and Craig arent the only young ones. I am just 2 months shy of 18 here.

    Drew,
your description about the many aspects of this hobby is so true. I'm not one for detailed locomotives but i enjoy building my layout and learning how to operate it. i do appreciate the work others do (likes Gats) on how so much detail goes into some models. For me I have not detailed any of my locomotives except for my lifelike GP20's that GATs weathered for me (see my website)Gats is currently modifying my SP GP20 to a cotton belt. I'm sure Gary has some pics to show soon of it [IMG]

I'm a bit slow at grasping by what you guys mean. Are you saying that you wouldnt mind some poorly done mold work just because you cant see it 2 feet away? That kind of thinking was why N scale was such a crappy choice 15, 20 years ago. I for one can spot detailed or superdetailed locos (in N) from more then 15 feet away. I think the guys who put all the effort in making sure that their, oh, lets say SD-35 had 9 louvers, 16 hood doors, and exhaust stacks are the true modelers. Just look at the most popular modeling, military modeling. Practically 90% of them, even beginnners, would be outraged if a Tiger tank would be offered without the correct tracks, the correct machine gun, or any other detail. That is what modeling is all about. I think a large part of model railroaders have forgotten that. We're here to model, not collect.

Hahahaha. BTW, anyone on the East Coast experiencing the fun I am? So far 1.5 ft of snow, trees, power lines, and telephone lines all over the road, so far 8 transformers blew up on my street, 12 power outages. I love winter! Thats what its all about!
