I have been toying with the idea of an HO module modeling the grain elevator in the college town where I earned my undergraduate degree (Ada, Ohio). While thinking, I was looking at Google Earth and Google Street View to see what was there, how big, how long, etc. But while I was doing that, I came across this view, from across a parking lot, in which a tiny diesel switcher appears. It's small but probably wouldn't move more than a handful of cars at a time. But what is it? It's smaller than almost anything I've ever seen for sale but now I'm intrigued and thinking about how cool it would be if my (future) module had one of these to go with it (even if I had to somehow scratchbuild one). I know many (if not most) of you have a much deeper knowledge of all things along the rails. What say you?
Cool. Thanks. I think the one I have is a GE 45 ton and I don't recall seeing on this small. Again, thanks.
I would second the GE 25 tonner. The cab windows and the door at the rear match up with other photos. The other manufacturer that comes to mind is Plymouth, but most photos of those show two windows on each side of the cab. The elevator in Ada is called the Heritage Cooperative. I looked on their website but couldn't find anything about locomotives they used.
