I think the difference is voluntary vs. involuntary.... and it's a little bit of both. Think Titanic. Immigrants boarded the ship, refugees landed!
I sincerely hope you're getting over "the new reality" and have started to get some sleep. No more binge drinking at 3 AM, trying to drown your sorrows!!! (Well OK. You can do it on weekends )
