But not a Poodle Skirt and Saddle Oxfords as befits your early 1950's modelling talents. Oh, the shame of it all...
I sure remember the gals attire back then. Some of the dresses looked awful, like they'd climbed inside an old gunny sack. And some other clothes looked quite flattering. *Sigh* Times have changed!
The new Fletcher Chem plant here has built some more and usually has quite a few cars on sight. Found this Whiteface BN GP leading a set of empty gravel cars waiting on the siding for Mon. This stack train just landed, second unit is one of those ES44AC4's.
What type of manufacturing in the area, which might use chemicals? Or is this more on the order of a fertilizer plant?
A few pics already one week old... Was in Montreal, QC, for 24 hours in the beginning of August. Just out of the commuter train out of Montreal downtown, shot a CN freight in Lachine station, close to Trudeau airport. An ES44 (AC or DC, I don't know), then a C44-9W and finally a SD75i at the point. After that nothing more until I went back to my hotel for a nap waiting for my return flight to France.... Dom
Nice to see you were up in my neck of the woods, Dom! A shame you weren't around any longer than 24 hours - with a bit more leisure time, a visit to the Exporail museum would have been in order! That's a nice consist you caught there. Both CN and CP have their main lines going through Lachine, which is just west of their adjacent yards in Cote-St-Luc. And not to forget the Turcot yard a bit farther east.
Boxcab - They manufacture chemicals for oilfield use. Supposed to be biodegradeable stuff. Right now it is just small scale with more plant to be built later.
Hi Mike, I've been to Exporail about 10 years ago but indeed that would be great for me to go back there...I'm back in Montreal on next saturday, and that time I'll stay there 48 hours... Hopefully some more train watching to come. Dom
It just so happens that next weekend is a special event at Exporail - A Great Passion For Small Trains: there will be layouts from various clubs on display there. And believe me, in ten years, there have been some changes and additions to the collection. I'll try my best to be there early Saturday (I think work on the Mercier bridge will be over). It's always a nice feeling to be surrounded by thousands of tons of magnificent steel!
Ah, Mike, sorry, my stay is now nearly over (4 hours from airline block time now), and I didn't catch your message as soon as I had to. BTW, some pics to come. I took them yesterday at Les Cèdres/Chemin St Dominique under pouring rain... Dom
