Happy New year. Sac Valley Railroad GP15 switches the McClellan Airforce base business park along the UP (former SP)
Used to call this a "squash shot" when using telephoto lenses. UP pulling out of a siding as it crosses the BNSF in Rosenberg, Texas with a "Chili Pepper" on the head end.
Amongst the spring buds of 04/09/1988, NS 1218 rolls north at Trenton, GA en route from Birmingham, AL to Chattanooga, TN on the first fantrip of the year. You can see the front truck ever so slightly articulating on the curve. (Sorry about the poor scan quality!)
BNSF 5045, BNSF 4288, NS 9038 all in notch 8 with a late SACR06 south of Walford, IA. Iowa Interstate Cedar Rapids Sub 1/6/18 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I came across this coaling tower several decades ago and waited for a train to pass through for my photo, but nothing showed. I've always meant to return, but haven't been able to. It's a neat spot. Thanks for the photo!
One more... The Helena helper set gets a bath in front of the depot in the capital city. MRL takes good care of their locos:
Love to see AND hear some SD45's one last time!! Used to tell the difference between an SD40-2 and an SD45 set coming up Stevens Pass out of Skykomish on the 2.2% grade at 12mph, they were ALOT louder and more of a grumble!!
I just found this photo of the same train as it passed. In the photo above if you look back in the train, sandwiched in between the auto racks, you can see these two depressed center flat cars.
