Been thinking of the time we spent down in North County San Diego this week. A great place to live and hope to figure out a way to make it back. This was taken in Leucadia.
Western Maryland 3798, a GP-40 built in August 1971 rests in the morning sun in Montgomery, AL on 11/02/1987. This unit was the last on CSX to wear WM paint. I saw the unit switching in the dim light on Sunday evening and I awoke early on Monday to pass by the engine terminal on my way to work, and was astonished to find it waiting patiently in perfect light. The locomotive continues to serve today as Indiana Southern 4041.
I didn't even notice the well car types until later. So cool. This was taken a few years ago at Sullivan's curve from a hill just north east of the curve. That is my friends wife in the photo. 2015 some time.
