This morning I was driving from Lincoln into Roseville and I pulled over to grab this meet. Not anything like the best picture, but hey, I got the phone up and in camera mode in time. That's always a rare thing.
Here is an old one from back in the 1970s. Flagging the Denver & Rio Grande narrow gauge coming south out of Silverton at a stop called Elk Park. Got on and rode to Durango.
Neat photograph Russ. Those are some stout narrow gauge rails. I've never seen the D&RGW; figured they'd be much lighter.
Caught Thursday in Camden, SC on the former SAL main, Amtrak's Silver Star ran nine hours late after hitting a deer and disabling an air component on the locomotive. The Star is a dead-of-night train in both directions in this region, so I was very happy to get this shot. The passengers were likely not so happy. Lead unit No. 4 is looking shabby, with grime, chipped paint and some serious rust on those window frames. Amazingly to me, these "new" units are already over 20 years old.
Approximately one year back, streetcars returned to the Capital of Your Nation after being gone since 1962. I took this with a telephone a while back and kept meaning to post it. Here is what the streetcars look like in Washington.
Saw this coal empty sitting on the west leh of the wtye, looks like it was overnite. There was no dpu on the rear and it was a short set, so it must be for the power plant up in Sidney.
Expedited stack and TOFC traffic wastes no time heading eastbound between Des Lacs and Lonetree, ND. Refrigerator units on several trailers cast green and blue light as the train with its DPUs roll east.
