Here is a Bachmann Consolidation that I scratch built a "Clear View" tender for.

Here is one of the prototypes. Some day I need to revisit it and work on the domes on the boiler shell.

I re-decaled this SD-80 in a more modern way. One of my friends did something similar.

Stunning work. You have the ability to model the necessary visual details needed to trick the mind. Are your foreground trees made from roots? My hat's off to you.

Thanks Jim Yes they are made from the roots of the Polka Dot plant which shoots up like a weed all over our back yard. They are suprisingly resilient [the roots AND the plant!] and I guess the paint helps preserve them.

    Russ,
To my "steam challenged" mind it looks like the biggest part of the work would be, essentially, swapping the two domes around. If so, that wouldn't be too much of a bear?

Greetings, All. New layout photo showing a hard charge up the grade and into the south portal of Elephant Mountain. Fortunately for the hogger working this Pennsy T1 Ðuplex, it's not a very heavy consist today.

It's easier than you think to re work the domes

    R.I. Straw Swaping the domes

Here are three photos of the 2-8-0 I did to look like the UP 618 in Heber, Utah.
    #1 is the conductor's side.
    #2 is the Engineer's side
#3 is right out of the box.

Once you remove the sand dome, you fill the hole with .020 styrene. Put your new sand dome (Mine is the same one I removed) and glue it where the bell used to be. Drill a new hole for the bell...
