Union Station in Rosenberg, Texas was shared by the Texas & New Orleans (SP) and the Gulf Colorado & Santa Fe (ATSF). Modeled here on one of my NTRAK module.
Managed to get a couple of cars done this week! Walther's 40' Reefer kit, replaced all the cast grabs with Tichy wire grabs and the cast sill steps with A-Line replacements. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red, Reefer Yellow and Aluminum Paints, then lettered with Oddballs Decals. Prototype was built in 1947 and hauled meat products from the midwest to the east coast. Accurail 40' RBL kit, replaced the cast grabs and sill steps with wire grabs and A-Line sill steps, added a Fishbelly Underframe to the car, then painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Orange and Pullman Green Paints, and lettered with decals from Tom's Model Train shop. Car was rebuilt in the 50's in this configuration by North American and leased to the CNJ for shipping Ballantine's Beer from New Jersey to locations all across the US, I have modeled this in a later period as noted by the ACI label next to the door. This is the fourth car like this I have done as the decal sheet had enough decals for 4 cars. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
I painted these two N Scale M-T Lehigh & New England hoppers years back using Northeast Decals, which unfortunately closed up shop long ago. Years later, M-T issued their L&NE car.
One of the newest modules features a unique pair of mainline bridges over a small highway. Time to scratch build! 2D start Crossmembers Piers Older bridge mostly complete! I didn't capture build progress of the newer westbound bridge, but it's done too! Working on terrain adjustments and will begin the road and scenery work under the bridges before permanently installing them.
Finally started to install ESU LokSound decoders into my four (acquired 2 years ago) Mikados. Also taking the opportunity to weather each loco as I do this. Here are the results, so far: New out of box for comparison Head to head
I was playing around with some of my F units yesterday. Finally renumbered one of my two 5571 units to 5574, now to finish the B unit which will be 5572. The trio just shows the Athearn F7 5574 (from 2003), F7 5741 (from 2005), ad my Stewart F9. 5741 and the F9 have details that I need to add to 5571 5574.
No trains on the track yet, waiting patiently . . . for the glue to dry and rails to be cleaned. Then trim the tall weeds!
Wow, those are such pleasant captures montanan, just wonderful. I can hear the idle of the SW, kids playing, birds singing and even feel a soft breeze. Definitely a place I'd like to sit for a while.
