Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio. Still working on the Canadaian Grain Hopper, glueing down the Plano Roofwalk, only have a few left to do. Also found an Alco C628 I was working on, adding the rain shields and will install a few grabs that will not interfere with the decaling, then off to the paint shop. Tangent X58 Boxcar, lettered with Dan Kohlbergs's Decals. Took a while to decal as Dan cuts the PC and Penn Central into its component pieces so the decals fit over the ribs properly. Car built in 1964 for the Pennsy, this is a mid 70's repaint with the ladders lowered and the roofwalk removed. Intermountain 50' Double Door PS1 Boxcar, added Details West Extended Coupler Pockets, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and Floquil Platinum Mist Paints. Lettered with Mask Island Decals. Car built in 1966 for general service, most probably lumber from the Northwest as evidenced by the combo door. These will probably be the last work I do for a couple of months, we just had our offer accepted on a new house as we are downsizing since the kids all have flown the coop, so we are in the process of moving. See you all later! Rick Jesionowski
"...and the fish was THIS long!" ...and the fish was this long! by ppuinn posted Aug 3, 2018 at 5:05 PM I took some pics yesterday of ITC 203 crossing the Mackinaw River, but the train, bridge, and scenery seemed to lack a spark, so I rummaged around in my spare scenery detailing drawers/boxes/containers, and found 3 oddly shaped or painted figures that I've avoided using for years, and added them to the scene (with some paint brush bristles glued to pink-shirt-waving-boy's hand as fishing poles).
What do you mean by “downsizing”? Are you selling any of your collection or just downsizing your house?
Just for laughs, 3 WPF 2018-08-03 Fails...Kind of like the out-takes run at the end of a Jackie Chan movie: 1. Photo Aug 02, 9 04 32 AM by ppuinn posted Aug 3, 2018 at 8:43 PM Discarded because: Tan-Shirt-Clown-Buttons looks like he is about to launch himself into space, or maybe tackle a water cooler or olde tyme glass cookie jar. 2. Photo Aug 02, 8 33 33 AM by ppuinn posted Aug 3, 2018 at 8:43 PM Discarded because: Blue-Hat-Round-Man looks more like Flat-Head-No-Neck-The-Blue-Alien. 3. Photo Aug 02, 7 52 56 AM by ppuinn posted Aug 3, 2018 at 8:43 PM Shadows in front and behind Pink-Shirt-Waving-Boy give the impression of feminine curves and long hair/pony-tail, but since both men and women enjoy railfanning and fishing, Pink-Shirt-Waving-Person's gender is not a disqualifier for WPF. On the other hand, the inadvertent positioning of the fishing poles and the raised right arm suggest Pink-Shirt-Waving-Person has been impaled by a spear, and that led me to make this pic a WPF "also ran". (And the non-prototypical appearance of Flat-Head-No-Neck-Blue-Alien also tipped the scales toward a WPF rejection.)
Just the house, going from a 4 Bedroom Colonial to a 2 Bedroom Condo, but has a full basement, most of which is finished.
Four days until we head to Kansas City. The goal is simple; some green and some trees. The mess just means I'm having fun! https://i.imgur.com/ujuZOh8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VpIi1Ui.jpg
While the trees dried, I sat down and finished a video from the N Scale Convention earlier this year.
Well better late than not at all. Been moving some old photos from Photobucket and found this one that kinda continues on Dave's fishing by the railroad bridge theme. The layout that this scene was taken on is long gone but the fisherman is still fishing under a bridge on one of my Ntrak modules. BTW - I used a cat whisker for the fishing pole. I have had this Dick Simon truck around for a while, decided to add an Alloy Forms Mack Bulldog to the hood.
OK here is the same fisherman figure on one of my Ntrak modules. He has gone to Japan for the fishing but the train watching is good too. For those not familiar with Japanese trains those are 0 series Shinkansens, the original bullet train. Credit for this photo goes to kiha66 who got this shot at a show earlier this year. 0 Series passing over stream by nscalestation posted Aug 5, 2018 at 11:59 AM
Starting to look alive I think. https://i.imgur.com/L14vpW7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EmywO7v.jpg I don't think I'll get the corn 'planted'. It still needs to be painted more realistic, and I have to figure out how to curve the rows. I have one destructive idea, but I think I'll wait until there's no time crunch before experimenting. In the mean time, I'll get the two other modules covered, and finish up with trees.
That’s going to be another great looking scene Mark. Looks like Nebraska to me. Lucky you making it to an NSE and NTS in the same year.
LOL! If I tried that with my cat, she would have carved a track plan for a double main down my arm! Took a quick look through a few of your (well written/nicely photographed) posts in your blog...Is there a track plan posted somewhere for your current layout?
