To construct the electrified Black Mesa & Lake Powell Railway in the early 70s, Morrison Knudsen brought in two six-axle Centuries. http://www.shownontheweb.com/RR/html/black_mesa___lake_powell_1972_0.html This page claims they were C630s. I believe only the Reading and C&O had C630s with Hi-Ad trucks. I knew the Reading units went to Conrail, so I guessed this might be a C&O unit. http://www.sd45.com/CO/index_4.htm I wondered where these had gone, since I know the only Alcos to receive Chessie paint were three switchers. Then I learned from http://forums.railfan.net/forums.cgi?board=Alco;action=display;num=1084031673 that all four C&O C630s went to Australia. Then I realized the MK units weren't C630s, but C636s. The SP&S C636s all went to BN, and the PC ones to CR. So, the remaining options are IC or Alco demonstrator...
By the time you posted that, I'd learned (from http://72.185.86.34/Roster Database/bymodel.asp) that all the IC C636s lasted to the end of the 70s before being traded to Precision National, ruling them out. That doesn't make a lot of sense.
