Caught a show this evening, on DIY Network. The estate of Ward Kimball- His train collection being readied for auction. What a tour! And even more, the prices realized. Incredible!!! Boxcab E50
Lot of interesting material in the book Walt Disney's Railroad Story I wanted the book when I first saw it advertised but didn"t think I could handle the $60 price. When I found a copy a couple years later at the "Half Price Books" chain, I jumped.
Back in the seventies he was a guest on tom snyders show. They did it onsite at wards house. He had a small collection of 1 to 1 scale steam along with his world class tinplace collection. During the intervue Tom asked him what he planned for his collection after he died, and Ward said he wanted it to go back into the ranks of collectors instead of a museum. He felt that the trains should be played with instead of mothballed.
