From Nevada Appeal 1/3/10 byline Sandi Hoover............. 2009 Year in Review: V&T celebrates inaugural season of sold-out train runs. Although the V&T Railway has stirred controversy throughout the community for years, no one can dispute the success of its inaugural season. All trains were sold out. Operation of the train between Virginia City and the depot just east of Carson City proved to be a successful tourist attraction for the 2009 season, with every seat filled. Although a portion of Carson City sales tax is dedicated to bond payments for the railway construction, the V&T Commission is looking at other options for future operations, such as billing the benefiting counties. — Sandi Hoover ------------------------ Ive also heard they've gotten a couple new pieces of passenger rolling stock that'll need some work before going into service.
This has really been one of the success stories of this year, despite all of the politics involved and the various organizations trying to remove the Gray family from operating this line. I hope to be able to get down there and ride next season. :tb-biggrin:
