Yep, nailed it. I still see cabooses though, but I guess it'll have to work.

At a slight angle, so it still avoids the straight line visual effect. I'd say thumbs up.

The storage track alongside does give it a more "real" look, oughta work.

While I do like the angle, the building looks uncomfortably close to the switch lead. Not sure a man on the stirrups could even clear that corner! Given you lay track faster than I draw plans even, I would move it all a "scoche" closer to the benchwork edge, even if parallel to the homasote edge.

Inspirational the way you jump right into layout changes. Once down, I tend to find ways to keep track down, when pulling it up and rearranging would be clearly better.

Photo angle playing tricks on our eyes? Perhaps if Wyatt could grab a quick overhead view, so we could see better how close....?

    Thanks fellas!!!

Jeff I measured,, comes out to be 15 scale feet from corner of building to centerline of track. I thought about your idea of making it paralell to the homasote edge,,,but we all like to lean, and sit things down like track cleaners, un-coupling picks, and what ever else. For once I was thinking about scenery and maybe a parking lot.

I really seriuosly doubt that I will ever get to scenery,,,I might just do the David Barrow minimalist approach.

    Ask and you shall recieve..

Okay, a thought.. What about sand, fuel and supplies for that building? I know, I know, nitpicking. But a facility that size would have a service track or two. And storage for parts for the locos. Besides, more switching!

Also, if you have the Pikestuff building, a car repair shed would be good. That's another spot for cars to be repaired and ones that just don't run well no matter what you do!

    Thumbs up.
The only thing that I might lean towards would be moving the building a little closer to the actual yard, maybe an inch or so so you have ample space to grab the switch throw on that turnout right behind the house.
I think it looks real good.

Yep, Pikestuff/Rix or it might be a Micro Engineering loco shed, there very close to being the same.
That's exactly what I was going for, the "add-on" look.
    Thanks!

Looks like there is enough room between track and building. Unless you will be using under table switch machines, I tend to agree with the suggestion to move your building just a little.

MRL,, i love those models by American limited.

Box, I will be using under the table machines,,not sure what kind yet. Looking ahead at the forecast for next week,,,, looks like I will get more time in the garage going to be in the low 80's and mid 50's at night,,great modeling weather.

The turnouts I used for the facility trackage were made using a fast tracks fixture. I will say one thing,, you want to get your locos properly gauged,, run them through a hand laid turnout!!! Maybe 50% of my 60+ locos were gauged correctly. I was thinking maybe replacing them with the #7's when they get here,, or I might just leave them be.

I know I have thought about using sheet sytrene to replicate concrete/paving look in the facility area. Doing that would make using the American Limited models easier, as I will have something to mount them to. I know I remember from Proviso,, the CNW had angled steel that created a fluid catch system, going to try to capture that look.

    Well ,,,laters fer now,,, Wyatt

    Wyatt,

Actually, all you need to do to get rid of the crowded look is to shorten the lead tracks and move the whole engine house left/west to get it away from the turnout. Then, all is good. I doubt they would really store locos on an engine house lead anyway?

Will second the American Limited Towers, although mine is now in surgery for a broken hose.....

I agree the American Limited models are great,, just can't afford them now. I am trying to do this project with what I have on hand.

The house location is not written in stone,,, I thought about putting a two track structure behind it somewhere.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!!

    Bravo 6 out!!!!
