Heads up to all along the route of UP's Fresno Sub! There was a UP two car passenger train carrying officers The consist was one UP SD70M abd 2 passenger cars Kevin, The UP Special train is coming at you into Bakersfield
Thanks for giving me the heads up about the special yesterday...unfortunately I was unable to leave home due to my wife being under the weather. As for the reason for the train, I don't have an answer. There seems to have been 2 or 3 UP specials running around California in the past week or so, so it is probably some management types getting out to make sure there are still two rails on top of the ties out West of Omaha.
Like Kevin said, it was a UP officer special probably checking the rails West of Omaha, I found that out while I listened to my scanner on 0808 (160.230 Mhz) and a MOW person wanted track and time but Dispatcher 56 would not give it to him before the special train as it was on the dispatcher's top priority list.
Kevin- I wish your Wife better soon. BC Amtrak- isn't it funny, a MOW crew wanted to fix the rails, but Dispatch wouldn't let him before the passage of the train..so when the train goes over that section, they might deam it bad? Who will take the Blame? the Dispatcher or the MOW crew that was willing to fix it? I hope the Dispatcher takes all the blame for this little mishap (mishap in my mind)
Kevin, See if you could help me try to figure this out What I actually meant was that the MOW wanted to look at the tracks, but the Dispatcher did not want to delay the special train. The MOW was around the area where the special train was nearby
