Went to a model railway show at Marlborough School, Watling Avenue, St Albans, Herts this afternoon (Sat 23/9/00). One of the layouts was a quite cool UP HO scale layout with a great many locos. I am not an expert but it looked like approx 1960s period was being modelled. The North London SME was displaying a 2 1/2 inch gauge model of a 2-6-6-4 lettered for the Erie railroad and numbered 215. The loco was about 4 feet long and very impressive but when I got home and made a quick check in "North American Steam Locos" I found (unless I've got it completely wrong) that Erie 215 was an 0-8-0 and the road didn't have any 2-6-6-4s. If anyone is going to be in the area with some time to spare, the show is also on tomorrow from 10 am to 5 pm and it costs £3-0s-0d (I like pre-decimal money) to get in. Ben
Didn't you ask to purchase the 2-6-6-4, Ben? It would look very impressive at G3 society meets Pounds, shillings and pence??? You old fashioned thing ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
