Recieved word from a guy in Little Rock that UP 2001 and 2002 have been repainted into the standard UP Yellow Machine. Damn, never got to see them in person.
Aw, but I guess it's timely what with another Winter Olympic games happening several hundred miles away... Speaking of which, CP's counterpart to UP 2002 is really minimal...
Aw that sucks alot. I always wanted to see them. And yea CP's is nothing spectacular, but there is like 20 so it will be alot easier to catch one. I have seen them many times.
My only photo, poor as it is--Cheyenne, WY: Bummer to hear they have been infected by the yellow plague...
Seems IIRC, this was to happen a long time ago. I even had which numbers they were to wear in yellow but they stayed in the special paint an extra amount of time. They, UP, probably isn't supposed to have that paint scheme now if another railroad is the sponsor.
I saw a pic of the 2001 that was taken today! It was the lead for a train in Missouri. So, It's not painted yet........ Don't know about the 2002.
Just seen one of the two still in blue on Feb 16th Eastbound at Granite, WY. Not sure which one as train was to far away to identify which of the two it was.
It's too bad that they cannot preserve one of the engines for future display with this car in Ogden, UT. Ben
I just passed one of them today along I-80 in Wyoming. I should have taken the next exit as that train got a red signal within a couple of miles. Maybe I'll see it tomorrow somewhere further west as I'm heading towards home, Reno. Echo Canyon, Ut, would be a GREAT place.
Complete Opposite Rather than being repainted into Armor Yellow, They have actually recently touched up the paint on at least one of the two units. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=323236&nseq=13
