Hi everyone, can somebody tell me what type of locomotive this is. Thanks a lot. Railfan http://mypage.bluewin.ch/Railfan/ <img src=http://chat.trainorders.com/slides/CPR9000.jpg>
According to the "Contemporary Diesel Spotter's Guide" published by Kalmbach, CP 9000 is an SD40-2F. A full-cowled version of the SD40-2. They were built in London, Ontario in November 1988.
Aren't they nicknamed 'Red Barns'? ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery Alan's European Gallery Alan's British Steam Gallery
If you saiod SD40-2F to most of my "Train Freinds" that are in Canada they would give ya a blank face. If you said Red Barn they would know exactly what you were talkin about! Happy Railroading!!! Welcome, Chessie, I do not believe that any have made it to the shield, and I doubt any will as slowly they will be put in storage from now on if they have mechanical problems. Happy Railroading!! They are leaving slowly, don't worry, infact I think only one of them is out of service at this time. I heard a crew say though, if there is major problems they will go to storage. Just a clarifying note on this subject. CP 9000, and CP 9022 are the Dual flag painted units, all remaining are A8NM More than likely these units will be the last in the series of all SD40-2's, being the newest. So one may be Stored, but will not be for long. ------------------ J.E. Pindar Webmaster-Canadian Pacific Railway Resources http://cpr.railfan.net
