Something I have been doing in the Delaware & Hudson Forum (Fallen Flags) is having a Topic / Class of engine so I thought I might try this in other forums to see what happens.

Here is a shot my wife took of UP #951 (E-9) while we were out photographing UP Steam Engine #844

    U.P. passenger units

That's a real nice picture of the 951. Probably been close to 50 years since I've had my hands on the throttle of one of those engines. I fired a few trips on some of that type of engine, on the old City of Los Angeles, running between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I got a little running experience on that train, too. A fireman couldn't legally handle that train on the U.P., but when no one was looking, I got a chance to handle that train. What a thrill. The electric brake allowed you to run fast into a restricted curve, and drop the speed in a hurry. The picture brought back a lot of memories.
