    Hi there,

as an alternative for all those technical stuff I ask you a simple question:

What are you expecting under the christmas tree ?

When I was young I never knew what will be the contents of all those fine presents. In the last years my relatives had more and more problems to find something for me. With my new hobby r.r. I have enough ideas but not enough relatives to fulfil my whishes [IMG]

    Happy r.r.

    Hi Daniel.
Welcome to trainboard. I am sort of out of luck as far as presents go. To save mony the family decided to draw names so I know I will be getting one gift. I know who drew my name and hinted anything in N scale. He is a college student so it won't be very expensive. "The wife and I will also get a package from Washington state. My brother in law always sends smoked salmon that he cures himself. It is really good yum yum. [IMG]

I got the best gift already.... Free reign to expand to a room size layout!!! Woohoooooo!!! Now I just need a plan, lumber, track, supplies..... I could come up with a huge list. I guess I better start hinting to everybody what I want- or better yet, just ask everyone for gift-cards or cash.

Fortunately for me, I have a son who works on Saturday's in a hobby shop. So with his employee's discount, I know I can expect something good.

    Guppyman,
How did your woodland scenic N scale railroad go. I have thought of you from time to time, but I haven't seen much postings from you (but I may hang out in different forums)

Actually- Going trough a divorce- taking care of my daughter- meeting and falling in love with the most wonderful woman- I pretty much didn't touch anything up until last weekend. Last weekend, I added grass, shrubs and about half my trees, and ran telephone poles and lines. My girlfriend is encoraging... It's actually her idea that I take over the room that I'm in.

I'm going to finish up what I want to do with detailing it in the next month or so, and then I'm chopping the legs way down and turning it into a toy for my daughter.

I learned a lot about what I want and don't want to do with a real layout... I definatley don't want 4% grades!!! I will use as much flex track in place of sectional as I can. I have to have a lot more switching opportunities.

I am in negotiations with my sister's boyfriend right now... He build ship models constantly. He's a perfectionist, and has actually gotten some of the model companies to put out models that he wanted. I'm going to see what it would take to get him to model a container ship for me in N scale. If I can get him to do it, I'm going to model the container port that I'm actually fighting the Port of Houston on building in my front yard. Well.... kinda.... I want the port, but I want some mountains too..... so I'm gonna have to take some liberties with that.

I'm going to borrow my mom's camera soon and I'll post pics of what I've done by Monday.

Will just be glad to get anything to do with trains this year. Have a new wife to buy for so can't buy for myself like in years past. Hope she finds the hidden (although not well :D ) map to the hobby shop!
