I thinking about designing a two level layout, but want to know what is a good distance between levels. Basically I'm planning a 4 x 8 "mainline run" that will end up on two shelves, which will have switching oportunities and also end with staging.So If I have too the bottom level can be strictly staging.
How are you planning to get from one level to the next? Usually folks build a helix so the trains can make a gradual spiraling assent or decent. Typical space between the upper and lower level is around 2 feet.
