Very frustrated here. With college football season now over, I have turned my attention back to my layout, and getting it progressed along.

I have been trying for two days to get a Caboose Industries #214S turnout stand (with electrical contacts) installed. It has turned out to be the installation from ...... well... not good.

The wire contacts on the Caboose stand do not stay in place. I have tried soldering wire leads at the bench, wire leads under the table, wire leads from the top of the table. Each time I attempt to solder, the leads just fall out of the stand because the Caboose Design only has the wire being held in from one side... they call it "press fit". What I call it cant be repeated or I would be banned from this forum.

I have tired epoxying the leads in place, super gluing them in place, goo'ing them in place, even using plastic putty. NOTHING.. they keep falling out when I try to hook them up to wires below the table. NOT A GOOD PRODUCT.

Anybody know a good switch stand that is quality? Can stand a little gentle soldering? I want the contacts so I can assure good electrical contact throughout the full length and pivot points of the turnout. (Walthers/Shinohara Code 83).

This is being installed on some siding tracks at the front of my layout and I do not need nor want the Tortoise machines as I have on my mainline and at inaccessible points.

    Any suggestions appreciated. [IMG]

Oh yeah! GO NC STATE WOLFPACK! Great Gator Bowl win! :D

I have always used the Caboose manual high and low switch stands and found them to be a well built product that lasts. Inever have used the wired in ones, can't really say I have even seen one! Guess I'll have to check up on them. Sorry I can't be of more help, just didn't what the whole Caboose line to get a bad rap!!
