Just bought a pair of drop in Digitrax decoders for 2 of my n scale Kato SD90's. Installed both, programmed the loco number on the test track. Moved them to layout. Both are set for 128 steps, the first one runs normally, starts at a low throttle setting (3). The other does not start moving until 30 or so.

I put both locos back on programming track (separately) and changed the CV's for initial, mid and high speed per the diagram on the Digitrax decoder direction. The same result, one loco starts moving at a much lower throttle setting.

I cleaned the track and the wheels on both locos. Prior to converting to DCC, both locos ran together nicely. What else should I check? I plan to remove the decoder from this loco, and put it in my third SD90 to check if it is the decoder.

    Thanks

You might want to reset the decoder using CV 8 and then try again. See if this helps.

You guys rock!!! Thank you a bunch, as it worked perfectly. Back in revenue service.

Fun learning curve to all of this.
