I thought I would ask this here but is any one ever going to make a Trinity 5161 Grain Hoppers in BNSF BROWN? The new version by LBF is in a color that I have never seen on the rails what's up with that Red color? Or does the red fade to Dark brown? All I want to make is an "Earth Worm" train and that requires the BNSF brown versions. Anyone?
Thanks "steps down off of his little soap box"

    Steve,

I agree the car on their web site looks a lot more red than the prototype. I think part of that is bad lighting and part is just that it's off a bit. But, living about 10 miles from the Trinity plant where a couple of runs of these were built (including a current production run) I will say that brand new they do look a little more red than brown at times, depending on the sun, weather, etc.

I haven't seen any of the HO (LBF, Athearn) models...do they look "right"? I would think the LBF N version would use the same paint as the HO one. I seem to recall a discussion/argument/proclaimation of the apocolypse about the HO versions on the Atlas HO forum regarding the color but I can't recall the specifics.

I can't wait for these guys to start showing up from LBF. Hey George, any ETA on these?

Do not ever believe the colors you see from any website!

Every system is limited to the software the host uses.

The technology is further limited to the sytem the viewer uses as well as the limitations of the monitor it is viewed on.

Well I saw the picture on the LBF web site and I will agree that web shots are only as good as the camera and display but even color blind as I'am that appears RED not Dark brown. Check it out and what you think:

Most of the MDC and IM BNSF hoppers I see appear too dark. As you may recall, John Allen always added a few drops of white to any "official color" to lighten it, both for weathering effects and because we look at it through haze, escpecially if we approximate the distance we view our N scale empires from.....

Thus, I think the mineral brown OUGHT to be somewhere between the photos posted here to "look right" whatever the real color is.

I suppose it would take a lot of guts for a mfg to do that, though. I'll be happy if LBF avoids the high gloss of some of their earlier products.....
