Train Derailment in Alexandria, Virginia

    Thirty cars out of 167 in the train derailed when a bridge partially collapsed. Nobody was hurt. Initial reports are that the massive amounts of rain we've had recently are probably the culprit. There are pictures at the link. Amtrak is affected, and this could take a while to repair.

    I won't click [Like], but thank you for the news update. I didn't know about this. Looks like a CSX line; I'm guessing former RF&P because the northbound Silver Meteor is one of the trains held out. Yes, it's been a rainy week in the east.

    Rain in Central Maryland and surrounding areas since Tuesday have had accumulations as much as a foot - Were that SNOW the accumulation would have been approximately 10 FEET. A lot of water softens the ground everywhere.
