    Stop the Insanity!!!!!!

    Um... Ok.

I think I will go with a barge that is transported by hand. Sorry to disapoint all the wonderful engineers out there. I'm trying to keep this from getting too complex. I will be using 2 sylvan models barge kits to build one barge (they aren't long enough the way they come).

Watash, I'll get you that track plan. I really look forward to ya'lls input. If its as lively as the barge discussion, who knows what I'll end up building!

    Stay tuned!

Could I interest you in an operating high lift crane so you can off-load from another barge and set loads onto flat cars? How about one of the big container cranes, then you could ship containers when you got tired of running the barge.

After carrying a barge load of railway cars, you better eat your wheaties!

Anyway, do let us know when you drop the first load on the floor. Everybody has done it at least once, that has tried to carry cars by hand sitting upright. Their cars didn't roll down the track and go off, the cars simply tipped on their side and rolled off knocking others off breaking couplers as they twisted. You'll learn, but let us know, so we can all say, "I told you so!"

(I thought I was pretty sure-footed in my younger days, but I did salvage some of the wheels. Don't tell anyone, they wouldn't let me live it down!) :D

Not being a modeler, and growing up alongside the New York Central RR (and the NY State Barge Canal with all of it's locks) I would be really interested in seeing this proposed model canal/railroad. You would need a harbormaster as well as engineers! It would be quite a lesson in history, as the railroads led to the demise of the canals. All you would need is an operating Interstate highway, which contributed to the demise of the railroads. Hmmm............. ;)
