Who makes trailers? Not the modern 40' ones, but the older 25' ones from
the 40's and 50's. I know that Athearn makes them, and Tyco made
them, but are there any others? I can't afford the Ulrich and Penn Line
cast ones, they are too expensive.

I would like some variety, rounded front ends and such. Does someone
make one like that? It might be possible to modify some of the Athearn
    ones.

Does anyone make decals for those? Where should I look for pictures?
Have I missed any articles on this?

    Thanks.

Russell, you might want to check out the Walthers 35' one, that's an older prototype with a round front, the Athean 40' is an early 60's built trailer, don't know if that's early enough for you.

There was a great article on kitbashing the Walthers 35' ones a few month's ago in MR, the chap added side doors an modified the sides to represent trailers from photo's, the results were rather superb! [IMG]

I'm not sure about the Athearn ones, the ones I've seen "up close" look like they have been squished in every dimension, and seem much narrower, shorter and lower than they should be? Anyone got any other comments on these?

The only other option I can see other than seemingly pricey resin or cast kits is a company called Imex has them listed at the Walthers site as a future production, I have a couple of their trucks already, they are somewhat toylike as they come, but with some toning down & painting out some of the chromed bits that shouldn't be chromed, they don't look bad.

    Hope that's helped! [IMG]

Thank you. All good information. Until recently I didn't realise how early TOFC was invented. I would like to make a few flats with trailers, all early. SP ran whole long trains of these, wouldn't that be nice? With the special cabooses painted all aluminum at the end.

I had forgotten about the Walthers trailer completely. It's just what I want.

Does anyone know if Lindberg still makes that line of small trucks? They had a nice small ford cabover, but it's hard to find now.

I'll look for that MR article, too. I seem to remember it now that you mention it.

    Thanks again.
