I need help. Right now i am building atlas plan N-16 and am having some trouble. If you click on tne web page above and go to the layout map you can follow what i am about to discribe to to you. If you go from turnout 1 and are going straight to turn out 3 , when reach 3 you get a short. But if you go from 1 -11 - 12 - 2 - 3 and on you do not get a short . The reverse loop is from 4-5 if this what some of you might be wondering. I am using Kato Unitrack and No6 turnouts I hope this is enough. Thank you for your help. Alan

Alan: When you go from turnout 1 to turnout 3, is turnout 3 open to traffic or is it closed. If it's closed , your power will automatically turn off. I can call you if you want.. Let me know. Stay cool and run steam....
When the train hits that turnout it can pass through. If the turnout is closed , when your train moves from turnout 1 to turnout three it will stop and the power will shut down to the command station as the loco appraoches the turnout. Stay cool and run steam....
In the direction travelling FROM turnout1 to turnout3 you simply have to insulate the LEFT rail between the two turnouts and you should be fine.
Bob, You hit it on the nail when it reachs turnout three the system shuts down. The no3 turnout is set to receive the engine and continue on toward the tunnel Right now i have not hooked up any switchs to the bus line they are only hooked up to the decoder. I thought before i started to hook them up i would test it once more. The turnouts are still switched by hand. Alan
Alan: When you manually throw the switch so that's it's open for a train to move through the turnout, you won't short out. Kato turnouts will automatically shut down the system if a turnout isn't open to the train moving through. This also can happen if your turnout isn't fully switched over to either direction. In any case, you can manually "throw" the turnout to the correct position until you wire them up appropriately. Stay cool and run steam.....
Bob, I have tried this but i am still getting the short. I am begining to wonder if the turnout is bad. My next step is to try a new one and see what happens later this week. Alan
Alan: Does your train run without problems from Turnout #15 to turnout #1 to turnout #3 . (In the opposite direction? Stay cool and run steam.....
Bob, That is a good question. I know it is okay from 2-3-15 but can't remember if it cango from 15-3-1 okay. when i get home i will test run it and let you know what happens. Thank you. You are a good freind to have on the internet. I hope one of these days we can meet. Alan
Bob, update i Tried from 15-4-3-1 no go after 4 but going from 15-4-3-2 just fine. Tired the quarter trick . There is power to the turnout but not on the sction when it goes from 1-3-4.
