Hello all, I have recently got off my rear, and forced my self to finish my track plan I think :D [IMG] . I am going to attempt to post a link to my rail images site to see if it works. The plan is leaning more towards the one that does not have a walk in area.

The layout,,,,80's-mid 90's Soo Line, with interchanges with the MILW, CNW. With future expansion with modern era, as if the Soo was never sold, beauty= Soo sd-70mac's.LOL Area,,, Wisconsin, or I should say, wisconsin type scenery, IE rolling hills, river or two, heavy industrail area also.

Another question I have is prefernce of benchwork type. Should I go with grid or L guirder?. As for easy of construction, is not an issue, I am a custom carpenter and have all the right tools for the job.

The room has two doors along the 16' 7" wall both swing out from the train room. SO entry to room will be via a duck under, actaully a stool with wheels, more like a roll under.

So any ideas or any comments are welcome.adios. [IMG]

Well, I can't tell much as far as what scale it is or what your minimum curve radius is or elevations or dimensions or anything like that, but as far as the track plan itself.....I like it.

Looks like you've got some nice switching possibilities as well as a good mainline run.

    Just a couple of comments:

    1) It appears that the dimension down on the very bottom says 11'-8". If this is the case, how the heck are you gonna reach anything out in the middle??

    2) Also at the bottom, there is one very obvious S curve. Unless you have a very large curve radius here then you may have problems where the tracks turn back with cars derailing and what not. Typically you'd want a straight section between the curves as long as your longest car.

    3) You have several reversing loops that will required special wiring unless you are using DCC. If using DCC then it's a piece of cake.

    4) Just for clarification, do the red lines indicate walls or backdrop or some sort of dividers??

Overall I like it. Do you have a way to crop all of the extra white space off of the picture and then blow it up so it's easier to see?

first things first. I apoligize for not making my self clear. N scale is chosen scale. The red line depict the walls of the room. Radius is 18" min, but mostly 20" where seen. The elevation for track height is 4' 10" or u lay people. 58 inches. No helicopter veiw for me. I plan on using DCC if I can learn more about it. Really don't know much about it.

I forgot I was not just posting on a n scale forum, oops,LOL.If any one has 3rdPlanIt. I can send them the 3pi file and they can mess with it , if they would like. Adios wyatt [IMG]

That second picture is much easier to see. Thanks.

Where are the edges of the benchwork at??

Also, that section on the left side where it appears to go through the wall....is that another room or something??

Yes the area where the tracks " pass through" is a door going to my bed room. The edge of the benchwork is about 2-4 " from the track. But that could change,,adios wyatt

Hey Wyatt, Glad to see ya come back!! I like the looks of the layout, the only thing I think I would change is it should be the Milwaukee Road inter changing with the SOO and CNW !!

Thanx Andy, but I see you are still confused. What am I going to do with you.LOL Matter of fact I am going to the hardware store to get the goodies to start construction on it.

I was toying with the idea of changing the plan to include three yards and have a free lanced road ( Wisconsin Belt Railway ) connect all three yards and run transfers between yards. But ya,,,,,never know,,,adios wyatt

Hey Wyatt, If the tracks go through the door to your room how do you expect to get in there? It looks more like a crawl under than a duck under!!!

I would be concerned about some long reaches that there appear to be.

I see once again andy has lost his senses. The layout height is set at 58" off the floor. So just a nod under is all that is required.

Barry, there is no long reach , you are probally talking bout the bottom of the plan, and the side where the island is at. Aisle ways may be small, but for one or two people just right. But good point. The islands are going to have veiw blocks. My whole thought on that is I don't want to see the train run around in circles, adios wyatt
