My first painted casting off my GE132 Ford Switcher. I'm not too happy about the paint job I did on this first one. I have to get some more experience on masking before I can get some sharper paint lines. And to get the metal details painted with some kind off quality. I also have to do a better job on the hand rail guards. And I'm missing some details like horns and some other BLMA type small detailed stuff. It's not a 100% accurate 1:220 Z-Scale all the way. But I'm satisfied so far and I think it is god egnoth with the tools at hand. And I can also now make some more resin casting off it. It fits the GP 35 chassis with only some filing at the ends to slide down on it. If I file down some on the top off the chassis that holds down the print board I and get it to more the right height. But I have not wanted to do that just yet before I get a new method off connecting the print board to the chassis.
Nice work Torsja. I think that is the first complete shell retrofit I have seen for the GP35 mechanism. :shade:
Great job Torsja. If your having trouble masking the line between the paint colors one trick is to use a decal stripe there, maybe a darker color stripe to hide the lighter color and that will give you a nice clean line. Did you drill holes for the handrail stantchions? or just glue them onto the deck? Putting the handrail on can be the most difficult job of the project. Good modelling!!!! Bob
Wow...very cool subject!!!!! I did a huge model of this engine in 1/24 scale for a museum many years ago and was impressed with the styling...only wish SP had them! Great work! Joe MTL
DITTO!!!:teeth: I have one of theese fro torsja! It looks great! I am painting it in Wellswille addison & galeton sheme.. :shade: Joe: you don`t have a spare gp35 mecanism without the shell?
Thanks guys. My GE132 Ford switsher preproduction lineup is one the way Still some details to be fixed thoe. More information on my website for those who are interrested. http://www.torsja.com
Torsja, the shells look great. I am not interested in the Ford, but this Wellsville and Addison looks pretty good.http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/wag1700.jpg
Hehe. That is just the one i am making :shade: I need some decals, but i deal with it later.:lightbulb:
Not too much work on this one lately BTW: check out my new blue track, it has such a low profile that you almoust can't see the rails! A definitive hit!
Wellsville, Addison & Galeton I have the wrong "white" on the top so i think i will do it over again.. I need some kind of light, light yellow :S
Like this? http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/misc-w/wag1200amh.jpg the orange also looks quite dull here - what I'd call earth orange.
