First time caller, long time listner...

Here is my first attempt at weathering some autoracks. I think the roofs look pretty good but the panels seem to be too dark. I have a couple of prototype photos but they are all of relative new autoracks.

Is it too much? Any advice?

    Matthew,

I deleted the links for you. to copy a link from rail images you must click on the thumbnail then right click on the image, select properties then copy the link. The link that appears in the browser is incorrect

The weathering looks great my only critical comment would be that the weathering seems a little too uniformed especially on the top of the roof.

The rust effect does look good though keep up the good work and post us more pics as you progress.

Matt, I think they look great! In fact they look new compared to some of them I see go by me every day!! Like the Colonel said you might want to break up the rust on the roof

it does look uniform on the roof, but I have never looked at a prototype car, they just might be that uniform if there is seams or bracing that would rust in those even patterns.

    I like the roof.

I kike it. I like most all weathering. On a slightly different subject, my real objection to most weathering is that, for my cars, it all looks like it was done by the same person, which it was. Varying techniques and mediums used helps a lot. Even weathering at different time will give a slightly different effect. I had considered a "weathering exchange" where we all would exchange cars to be weathered, but I never did more than consider it. Perhaps such an agreement could be made between local acquaintences.

But, for these cars, I think it is a very good job. Practice makes perfect; you will get better and better.

Not to be contrary, but I like the uniform weathering on the roof, it looks like thats were some structural supports may be. Whatever, the car looks very nice, good job.

Thank you for all your input. You're right Gary. I was/am attempting to follow the bolt/rivet panel joints.

Again thank you for all your thoughts.....

Use some wet emery paper and drag the paper over the rust down and across, it will break up the paint and make it run, and don't do this to the whole car, leave some as is
