I just got back from the annual Dallas area train show. I saw a display of the EZ-Lite system for locomotives that had blinking ditch lights and blinking beacons. Also mars lights for the E-8. The realism was fantastic. Is anyone currently using these for their locos, and if so was it somewhat of a challenge to install?
I think you must be referring to the EZ-Lites from Richmond Controls. They are nice! I put the one with alternating ditch lights in a Kato ATSF C44-9W and the one with just headlights in an Atlas UP SD60M. Both look great in operation and they don't draw any more power than a non-lighted unit, allowing everything to still run together fine. Installation in the SD60M was a snap, but was not so much the case with the C44-9W. There's really not enough room for the wires between the frame and the shell and I had to take a grinder to the frame . But, all in all, they are great and do add a great deal of realism Russ
Do these light boards work with DCC at all? I know, I should probably go check out their website, www.richmondcontrols.com, and look their. Mine were in non-DCC locos. Not sure about DCC applications. I know that Richmond Controls is good about inquiries and is prompt with replys (unless they're OOT at a show). Russ
