This volume talks about the coal mining taking place in the region.
Also a bit about the Ute Indian Treaty. And, as usual, about the various
operating problems in spring and winter.
As with all previous volumes, well worth the read, and worth adding to
ones collection. Again, IF you can find a copy at a reasonable price!!

    Next up, Vol 10

Does it tell about how the "May Day" branch name came about?

Just wondering if it had anything to do with the calendar date, or the distress signal, or nothing at all....

Talks about the May Day branch and its construction.
Unfortunately, it does not say where, or how the name came to be.

Hmmm. I wonder if there is such a thing as a book on Colorado place names?
